As I may have mentioned in the past, I still haven't tried the Milky Way Simply Caramel because No-Nuts made a midnight snack out of the one I had, but it's described as a Milky Way without the nougat. ReplyDeleteTragically, when I was a child, I was burdened with a smile that made jack-o-lanterns cringe. Braces were brutally affixed to every tooth thus inhibiting me from the gooey sticky sweet deliciousness we all know as caramel. So you ask why I love caramel... well, Caramel is a flavor of freedom! The shackles that once bound me from indulging have been lifted and I may now make up for last time!

ReplyDeleteI love the smooth texture and creamy goodness of a fresh piece of caramel. I can eat it by itself or in a yummy piece of chocolate, over ice cream or with fruit. It is particulary good caramel when you've taken a bite and you pull the rest away from your mouth and you see how far the string of the caramel can go before it breaks. Mmmmmm!

I love caramel because it can compliment just about anything.
ReplyDeleteThe darker roast can help offset an otherwise too sweet white chocolate; or a lighter caramel can add enough sweetness to contrast a bitter semi-sweet or dark.
Caramel also stands incredibly well on it's own. I'm not sure if you're familiar with Jeni's ice cream from Columbus, but I just paid $10 for a pint of their salted caramel ice cream the other day...that's how much I love it.

Caramel is my favorite "friend of chocolate". I like the runny caramel, the really thick caramel, the in-between caramel. My favorite special candy bar to get as a kid was a Caramello. I would eat the border off of each square, take the bottom piece out and then lick the caramel out of the inside. I'm a bit of a fanatic!

We love caramel at our house because you can use it to liven up chocolate desserts. DS is allergic to nuts so caramel is a great substitute to bring something special to a snack.
