I feel the need to say something about this whole peanut butter/salmonella situation. All I can say is, this too shall pass. (But the conspiracy theorist in me wonders if the Chinese government had a hand in this to take our attention away from the melamine debacle.)
In any case, just don't eat any peanut butter for a while. Then, when all is good again, we'll have a giant peanut butter and chocolate party!
UPDATE: Carl has a much more informed opinion than I do. You might want to check out his comment for a more balanced approach. Thanks Carl!

Not eating peanut butter isn't a good solution, in my book. Just be informed. I understand that peanut butter in a jar is safe. All the tainted stuff was from industrial and institutional packaging.
The best thing to do is to look on the FDA's web site when making a shopping list to see which of your normal, favorite products have been recalled. Chances are you will not find them in the store at this point anyway.
The list of recalled items is long but the list of safe items is longer, I suspect. Be informed and be cautious.
However, if people feel better not eating any peanut products, I recommend the old adage, "If in doubt, throw it out."
