Happy Fourth of July! On this day back in 1776, no doubt our Founding Fathers celebrated the signing of the Declaration of Independence with a hearty licorice whip or perhaps a chunk of sugar carved from one of those funky colonial sugar cones. Here at Candy Yum Yum, we've decided to celebrate our freedom with a crazy summer giveaway!
Thanks to our friends at Blair Candy, one lucky winner will be picked to receive $15 worth of candy. Nice, right? So here's what you have to do to throw your tri-corner cap in the ring: Leave a message here telling me what candy says "summer" to you. Maybe you have a childhood memory, or perhaps there's a favorite candy you like to buy from the ice cream man. Whatever the case, leave your answer here, along with a way for me to contact you. Continental U.S. only, please. The lucky candy recipient will be chosen on July 11, noon E.S.T.

OK... I'll start. It would have to be the fireball found at the bottom of that ice cream cone we bought from the ice cream. I don't have a clue what it was called, but it's the one we always bought!
My favorite summer candy has got to be Skittles! Who can resist such sweet and colorful morsels under the sun?

summer sweets are things that one can start to enjoy and then come back to finish once the playing has ended...like lollipops, hard candies and jaw breakers.
I live near Santa Cruz, CA on the Monterey Bay and nothing says summer like Salt Water Taffy!
Oh shoot - I forgot to give you my email address :) gcole@pacbell.net
Sorry about that!
Definitely Reeses Pieces! I remember the summer E.T. came out, I think it was 1982, that movie was SO popular and so was the candy because it was featured in the movie as a favorite of E.T. the alien!
To me jolly ranchers says summer. My favorite has to be lemon. smheart999atgmail
Cotton Candy... the color of the sky...it just melts in you mouth! tracey@burhop.net
Every summer we went to Playland in Rye NY and right at the exit was a stand that sold candy and they had the best coconut candy, you know, the strips that were pink, white and brown. I didn't even care about the rides, I just could not wait to get that candy and for some reason my parents made me wait till the end of the day. Probably so i would not barf on the rides from eating too much junk.
salt water taffy is my all time favorite summer candy. I can't get enough this time of year!
When I think of summer, I think of gummi bears, because they don't melt in the heat!

The candy that reminds me of summer are Astropops, even though I'm not sure if they're sold anymore! I used to visit my cousins in the summer, and they had a neighborhood pool with a clubhouse that sold those, so for me, they are synonymous with lounging by the pool as a child!
Yikes! I forgot to leave my e-mail too!
